Residential Project Spotlight:

Window Treatments Create Elegant Functionality in Mauldin, SC

Windows become built-in artwork to your home when properly positioned and adorned. The project we completed for the new build in Mauldin is a perfect example of adding beauty to your home through windows. This house boasts many floor to ceiling windows that instantly bring the outdoors to the inside space. Such large windows are valued for their beauty, but they always pose the tricky problem of needing to cover them for privacy without diminishing the view.

Motorized Roller Shades

The owners chose window treatments that subtly accent the space while keeping the windows and their view the main focal point. Horizon roller shades with a white linen fabric seamlessly blend into the window’s wood frame. The roller shades are enclosed in either fabric matching white cassettes or architecturally designed wood paneling pockets. When privacy is desired or the sun’s glare needs to be filtered out, these roller shades are available at the click of a button through Somfy’s motorization technology.

All the choices in the master bath of this home create a spa-like atmosphere. From the array of windows surrounding the stand alone bathtub to the crisp whites on the walls and trim to the luxurious marble, this space is a relaxing haven. For our part, we accented these beautiful windows with white linen Horizon roller shades that roll into a color coordinated cassette giving it a finished look.

Classic Roman Shades

The owners chose a slate gray classic roman shade with black trim from Horizon for their exercise room and a taupe colored roman shade to adorn one of their gorgeous bathrooms. Horizon roman shades are hand-crafted to raise in soft folds and hang flat when lowered to bring a simple elegance to the room. The 6 inch fabric matching valance conceals the shade’s hardware, and the white liner keeps a uniform look from the street view.

Interior Shutters

The homeowner also chose to use Norman® shutters to adorn the windows in the walk-in closets as well as several of the guest rooms. These hardwood shutters are extremely durable and conditioned to reduce shrinking and swelling post installation. For privacy or an outside view, simply tilt a louver. These shutters were custom crafted for a perfect fit to the size and arch of the window.

Final Outcome

The finished look of this project is definitely pleasing to the eyes! It was a delight working with the owners and designer, Cynthia Masters, to craft window treatments that meld function, comfort, and artistry in each room.
