Shades for New Greenville County Administration Building

On the corner of University Ridge and Church Street in downtown Greenville, SC stands a beautifully designed structure with strong architectural lines and transparent walls. This 250,000 square foot space is the new home to Greenville County’s government offices. It is part of a 40-acre redevelopment in the heart of Greenville, and this building is the striking centerpiece of that space.

The building was designed with extra space for departments to expand as the Greenville county population increases. On the main floor, the terrace contains courtrooms, the office of veterans’ affairs as well as various seating areas. A large open staircase leads to the upper floors of the north and south towers. These towers house county council chambers, conference rooms, administrative offices, and various government offices.

The abundance of windows provides abundant natural light for the over 500 employees working inside as well as the numerous daily visitors to the Greenville county offices. Integrity’s commercial team had the opportunity to partner with DPR Construction to provide innovative window coverings to increase comfort while maintaining the beautiful view from the windows.

Our dedicated installation team spent several months here installing shades. We used a combination of shades to complete this project. Mecho & WT manual shades, which are easily operated with a chain system, give a fresh and sleek look to the windows and provide excellent light control. The motorized shades from Mecho are just as high quality as their manual shades with the added luxury of raising or lowering by the touch of a button. On many of the windows, we installed Mecho’s Motorized DoubleShades® to offer a room darkening or light filtering shade on one bracket. This is an excellent window treatment option for rooms with condensed headspace for shade installation. We also installed pockets that are recessed into the ceiling to hide every shade when raised.

The beauty of this building would not be what it is without the talented architects behind the design. Foster & Partners based in London, UK and Nelson Worldwide out of Minneapolis, MN brought their world-class talent to Greenville, SC in the layout of this county building. Their purposeful and sophisticated architecture will leave an artistic impression on downtown Greenville for many generations.
