28-Foot Progressive Solar Screen in Greenville, SC
Integrity Blinds & Shutters recently completed a high-profile project, installing a 28-foot progressive solar screen on the 7th-floor terrace of the brand-new United Community Bank (UCB) Headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina. This installation is part of our ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge window treatments that combine functionality, style, and sustainability for residential and commercial spaces.
Meeting Modern Architectural Needs
The UCB Headquarters is an architectural marvel, with its sleek design, large glass windows, and a prominent 7th-floor terrace that offers panoramic views of downtown Greenville. As part of the design, it was crucial to balance the beautiful look and feel of the outdoor setting with the practicality of using the space no matter the time of day. The 7th floor terrace offers an open air setting for employees to enjoy conversations or lunch. It is also used to host company events. However the sun’s heat and glare were taking the joy out of the use of this space. That’s where our Progressive solar screen came into play. Solar screens are engineered to manage the sun’s energy, reducing heat and glare while maintaining a clear view.
Custom Solutions for Unique Spaces
Given the scale of the UCB headquarters and its unique architecture, installing a 28-foot screen required precision, expertise, and customization. Our team worked closely with the contractors at Harper and our manufacturer to tailor the solar screen to meet both aesthetic and functional demands. Our installation team meticulously drafted a plan to move the 28-foot screen up to the 7th floor through the use of a boom lift. Our competent (and brave) installers were ready to receive the shade once it reached the 7th floor. Although the work was very precarious and had to be completed with precise care, the final installation makes it all worthwhile: a seamless addition to the terrace that enhances the space’s comfort without compromising on the stunning view of Greenville‘s skyline.
